extend me!

the before:

the after:

I've been wanting long hair again for a long time, so I finally got extensions! They aren't styled, and will look much MUCH cuter when I spend some time on them, but here they are! I'm so excited!

  1. so, I have a question... what ARE extensions, and how do you put them in? are they real hair? one of my friends had a roommate who didn't put hers in right, I guess, because they always had huge clumps of hair in the shower from when she would take them out.....? really, I just don't know anything about extensions.

  2. My extensions are human hair, but some are synthetic, like Barbie hair or even horse hair (ew.) mine are put in with links, which are tiny metal rings that wrap around my hair and the extension, then are smashed with pliers to hold the hairs into place. They can also be glued in and put in with wax. The links are the cheapest and the least damaging toyour actual hair. (when you take the glue/wax ones out, they pull a lot of your actual hair out too. The links ones don't) they'll stay in for about 4-5 months, depending on how well you take care of them. I have to braid them when I go swimming and go to bed, and I can't wash them a lot, plus I have to be extra gentl when brushing them. It cost me about $60 total, but I get discounted products and hair, and I get them put in for free. For non- stylists they are usually way more expensive, like $200-$300.
