I found this fitting for today.

9/11/01

I remember exactly what I was doing 12 years ago, when I learned about the September 11th attacks.

I was in the 9th grade, leaving my 2nd hour band class, when someone called our band instructor and told him to turn on the tv. He did, and a few other students and myself gathered around to watch. I remember that my teacher swore, loudly, and I remember thinking how it must be serious if he did that in front of students.

The rest of the day, we watched the news in every class. I saw the towers fall, and I cried.

I don't think I'll ever forget that day.

4th of July

I love today! The 4th of July is my favorite holiday I think. I love fireworks, and cookouts, and days spent on the lake. I love the fun activities on this day.
But I think most of all, I love America. I tear up when I hear the national anthem, I love Veteran celebrations, I feel a deep reverence for our flag. I am so grateful for this glorious country.
I have freedom. I am free to speak what I wish, protect my family, and practice my religion. I am free, as a woman, to get an education, hold a job, vote and hold property. I live daily without fear, because I live in this blessed country.
I love America, and I am so grateful for those brave men and women who have fought for Her and my freedom.
