Passion for Fashion Friday aka That Time I was Crafty

I got some awesome coral cropped pants a while back. I was really excited about them, but when I got them home, I realized that I didn't love the fit.

See? They kinda flare out at the bottom, and I prefer my skinny jeans to be pretty skinny.

Needless to say, I was pretty bummed. I loved the color, and really wanted to love these pants, but with the poor fit, I just couldn't.

So I decided to get crafty.

I looked online till I found easy ways to skinny up my jeans.

This is the tutorial I used (gotta love Pinterest, right?):

It was actually really easy. I'm a sewing novice, and I could do it!

The after:
Muuuuuuuuuch better.

I've since worn these pants like 4 days in a row.

What's with today, today?

What an awesome day!

This morning, Brandon and I got up early and went to donate plasma. With both of us donating, we made about $100! Woot!

After grabbing a burger, we went home and took a nap. Oh yeah, baby!

After waking up, we took the girl to go see Monsters University. It was really good! I laughed out loud several times, and the babies loved it!

After the movie, we went to a park for an hour or so, until Portia and Margot were too sweaty to handle life anymore.

So we returned home, filled up the kiddie pool, and played in the yard for the rest of the evening.
Just close to bedtime, we set up the fire put, and roasted polish dogs and made s'mores. There's just something about sitting under the summertime stars and eating and talking. It's glorious.

We put the babies to bed, and happened to find Empire Records on tv, which is one of my all-time favorite movies.

Happy me!

i'm easy to please

Last night, Brandon took me on a date.

Kinda.

We went to Walmart.

After the babies went to bed, we went grocery shopping and grabbed a bite to eat at Bueno. While driving home, we found a totally sweet radio station.
And as I sat there, scarfing my beef nacho salad, grooving to the sweet tones of Don Henley, and laughing with my hunky husband, I realized that I was having a lot of fun!

You know you love someone when anything can be a date!

Keep Calm and Become

I had the awesome opportunity to go to our church's girl's camp last week. You should know that I LOVE camp. I went every year that I could as a youth, and now I got to go as a leader!
It was soooo fun! I was the cabin leader over a delightful group of 12 first-year girls. They were so cool. I laughed harder with them than I have in a while! We played games, did nails, and stayed up all night!
The great thing about camp is that it's not only about identifying poison ivy and tying knots, but it's also about building testimonies of Christ. We spend a lot of time singing hymns, praying, reading scriptures, and learning with the help of the Spirit. It's wonderful to get away for a week, and focus on what's really important.
This year, the theme of camp was "Keep Calm and Become." We focused a lot on Believing, Becoming, and Being Converted. It was fabulous! We had incredible teachers who brought the Spirit into every moment of camp.
I can't wait for next year!

The lovely ladies of Cabin 1!

Don't Stand on That, You'll Break It

Look up.

No, not above you. I mean above this on the page. See that cute little graphic? Ever wonder why it says "Don't Stand on That, You'll Break It"?

Well let me tell you!

Growing up, my mom said this phrase all the time! She probably told us to stop trying to break stuff daily, but there was something about this phrase that had her saying it in her sleep.

Literally.

She'd talk in her sleep and say "Girls, don't stand on that, you'll break it."
We always teased her about it, and she always laughed and said "When you're a mom, you'll understand."

Now, I am a mom. And you wanna know what I say all the time? Don't stand on that, you'll break it.

Passion for Fashion Friday aka My Favorite Shoes

I fully intended to put on a super cute outfit and take a pic today. I even had the outfit planned out.
But last night we went to dinner and a  movie for our 5th anniversary (what! We're so awesome!) and I wore my super cute outfit. And I may or may not have spilled pie on it. So we're going to talk about shoes instead.

I love shoes.

I love shoes.

Brandon thinks I have too many pairs. He's mistaken.
I once explained it to him by equating my shoe-love to his football-love. He could probably go his entire life without watching another game of football. But he doesn't want to.
And so it is with me and shoes.

Wanna see my favorites?
I knew you would.

I bought these online, at a website called Urban Originals.
Qupid, about $30
Ignore my crazy veins. And my totally crappy selfie-shoe taking skills.

These ones I bought at a tiny little shop in the mall that sold way off brand shoes for way cheap.
They remind me of Dorothy's red slippers.
Pazzle,  about $15 (what?)
What's that? You're diggin my rolled up ratty jeans? I told you, pie on my cute outfit.

These are my absolute faves. I wear them all the time. I have no remembrance of what website I bought them at, but I do remember that I bought them as a present to myself for surviving Margot's pregnancy. Best gift ever.
Breckelle's, about $30

So there you have it folks! My top three favorite pairs of shoes. Now go in your closet and look at your shoes, and feel happy.

Country Living

I've never been much of a country girl. I grew up in the city.

I know what you're all thinking: Is there a city in Oklahoma?
The answer to your question is Yes. Yes there is. Several, in fact. I grew up in Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa, which had a population of 100,000 people. Then, after getting married, we moved to Norman, a suburb of Oklahoma City, which has a population of 113,000.
See? Cities.

Anyway, I've always been a bit of a city girl. I'm used to driving 5 minutes or less to the grocery store, Chinese restaurant, and the movie theater. I'm not all that opposed to sitting in rush hour traffic. I find the sound of cars passing on a busy street oddly, soothing. (This may be from growing up next door right off of one of the busier streets in town.)
Actually, up to this point, I loved being a city girl. I loved going to a big high school, and not knowing everyone in town.

But recently, we've move to Claremore (population 18,000 in case you were wondering), to a country neighborhood. We don't have a Target nearby, I hear cows lulling me to sleep instead of cars, and there are bugs everywhere. But I love it!

Claremore is an awesome town! We are 15 minutes from Oologah Lake, there are 2 museums in town, and even a haunted manion. Whaaaat!

the Belevidere Mansion

But the best part of living here is our neighborhood. Everyone in the neighborhood are friends, there's always someone out working in the yard or walking their dog, and everyone stops to chat with each other.
There's an acre lot for Portia and Margot to run and play, and boy have they ever! We got a swingset, a little trampoline, and a pool, and the girls are playing hard! They've never slept so hard in their lives! Two days this week, they slept in till 10.
10!!

I'm quickly becoming a country girl.

Passion for Fashion Friday

Happy Friday!

You may not know it, but I LOVE ALL THINGS FASHION.
Who am I kidding, of course you knew that! I've posted about clothes, shoes, jewelry, and of course, hair.
I'm talking about clothes today, my homies. Specifically, clothes from JCrew.
They've got some cuuuuute stuff!

To me, these clothes just scream summer. And I love it.

A Conversation

Portia, running up, with a laundry basket on her head: Mom! I'm a mokey-coke!
Me: A mokey-coke?
Portia: Yeah. Do you know what's a mokey-coke? It means you be silly with a basket.

Happy Birthday Portia!

Today, Portia turns 4.
Crazy, I know!
I can't believe that 4 years ago, I was welcoming my first baby into the world.

I love you Sis! Happy Birthday!
