Disneyland, or Vacation Part 1

The last few weeks have been whirlwind of adventure for us! Wanna hear about it?
I knew you would!

About 2 weeks ago, Brandon's awesome parents came into town to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with us. One morning, we woke up 4 am and packed up the car. We had been planning quite the surprise for Portia and Margot!

After the initial shock wore off, they were thrilled!

We spent most of the day riding every ride the girls set their little hearts on!

Margot says her favorite ride was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and Portia's was It's a Small World After All.

We even got to meet princesses!

As you can imagine, Portia and Margot were ecstatic!

We stayed in the park until the girls literally passed out with exhaustion, then headed back to the hotel, ate some dinner, and fell into bed ourselves. We had even more fun planned for the next day!

Paper Dolls

While browsing Pinterest this morning, I came across some gorgeous Disney paper dolls from artist, Cory Jensen. He is amazing! First of all, he has every Disney princess, plus the princes, villains, side characters, and even celebrities like Beyonce and Marilyn Monroe. And, they are all free to download!

Check out his Facebook page here:

I decided to make paper doll quiet books for the girls for church. So I printed out the princesses and dresses that the girls picked on heavy cardstock. We got Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, and Jasmine from Aladdin. I printed mine at UPS, but if your printer can handle it, it's much cheaper to do at home!

Gorgeous, right?

I cut everything out,

and laminated the dolls to the inside of file folders.

I just used some laminating strips bought at any craft store.

Next, I laminated all the dresses and re-cut them out. Then, I put velcro strips on both the princesses and the dresses.

 And voila!

The girls haven't stopped playing with them!

princesses on ice

Last Thursday, we drove up to Tulsa to go to the fair to see Disney on Ice. Portia had been talking about it for weeks! We met up with cousins and dressed up and hyperventilated, and then headed to the fair.
We were there a few minutes early, s we walked around and looked at some of the crazies (at one point, I saw a woman breastfeeding a baby while she walked though the midway).
Finally, we sat down for the show. It was actually pretty awesome! They did the stories of Cinderella, Tangled, and Princess and the Frog. I thought Portia would pass out. She was so excited; every time a new character would come onto the ice, she gasped and clutched her heart. She was thrilled.

Margot enjoyed the show too, but it was a little harder for her to sit still.

Rapunzel's hair
They actually grabbed ahold of the hair, and flew around in the air. It was AWESOME.

The princess cousins
Nice, Carrie. Nice.

After the show ended, we went out for ice cream and then headed home. The girls fell asleep in the car, and as I put Portia in her bed, she mumbled "princesses on ice" in her sleep. I think she liked it.
