Day 13, Apology

May 13th- Issue a Public Apology

Today we went to the zoo. While looking at the bears, we saw woman there with her daughter, who was severely handicapped. Confined to a wheelchair and very small, she had some trouble moving her head to see the animals. Her sweet mom was turning her and pointing and cheerfully talking about the bears to her, and though she couldn't talk, she was listening.
Portia was watching this little girl, and after a few moments, asked me "What's wrong with her?" My heart broke. I pulled her away and told her that sometimes people are different. And that it doesn't mean that she is any less special, just that she is different.
I started thinking about this mom and her baby, and I thought about all the stares and rude comments they must endure.
My apology is to them today.
I'm sorry if my child offended you this afternoon, and I'm sorry if I said the wrong thing to her in response. I'm sorry that kids (and adults) can be cruel. I'm sorry for all the heartache you must feel at times, when people say or do mean things.
I hope you both had a fun day at the zoo.

the Zoo

Ready for a picture overload?

Today we went to the zoo!

The OKC Zoo had an awesome children's area, with a splash pad, and it's the highlight of our trip. The girls LOVE it!
Look at that cheeser grin.

Margot has started standing up by herself the last week or so. I predict walking to be next.

Playing house

Margot is not amused.

The sea lions were really fun today, they were swimming right up to the window and flipping around, it was awesome!
It was the first time Portia wasn't afraid of them.

Here's a couple of cheeser grins for ya. She's a pro.

Portia was really concerned about this picture of the tiger eating the deer.

Margot was more interested in the real cat.

 Poor guy was tuckered out.

Apparently, so was Margot. At this moment, I figured it was time to head out.

The girls were really lively on the drive home.

The zoo is fun.

sssssssssssssss

Last Saturday we went to the zoo with my mom and sister and all the kids. It was a lot of fun, and I made an interesting discovery.
This guy:
This is a Green Basilisk Lizard. Wait. Basilisk?!?

As in, giant deadly snake that can kill with his extremely poisonous bite, or just by looking at you? They've got one of his cousins in a zoo?

Where's Fawkes when you need him?

ready for swimming!

The OKC Zoo is really awesome. There's a children's area with a petting zoo, a little river, and a splash pad. Portia loves the water.

We took the girls the other day, and Portia did this for a good hour and a half, until she was so cold her lips were blue, and even then I had to force her out!

Zoo babies

Yesterday was beautiful out, so we went to the zoo! It was a little harder than usual, since Daddy was at school, but the girls and I had a blast!

Portia had so much fun, she pretended to be animals the rest of the day!

Ribbit!

little monkeys

Get it? Monkeys? Cause we went to the zoo!

Look at my beautiful babies!
Maybe I'm biased, but seriously, they are so cute.
Check out Margot's concerned face, and Portia's cheeser grin.

Look how big she is. She looks like a kid, not a baby!

Snugging her mama

The zoo was super crowded because there are new tiger cubs.
That's right, I said tiger cubs.
Cute much?
Portia was a little afraid of the tigers, but she still got as close as she could. Looks like she inherited her mother's love of being scared.

Aaaaand for your viewing pleasure:
Only in Oklahoma do you see a wagon of kids attached to a power chair at the zoo.
Classic.

Zoo day

I know there's a lot of pictures, but here you go!!

Today we went to the zoo!

Brandon thought he would show the belly. Ignore my weird hair.
23 weeks!

This poor cricket was stranded on top of that rock, with 4 snapping turtles circling beneath him. Poor guy.

Look at daddy!

This caribou couldn't decide if he wanted to go out or stay in. It was pretty hot.

Everywhere we go, Portia finds a little boyfriend. This little guy was pretty cute.

The OKC Zoo has an awesome children's area! There's a little stream that the kids can play in and also a splash pad. Portia LOVES it!!

more pictures

We went to "Haunt the Zoo" here in OKC. Portia was Princess Leia, I was a witch, and Brandon was Donald Trump. It was alot of fun!
