shower woes

Remember the shower incident? Pretty gross huh?
Well, here's an update. Shortly after I wrote that post, the maintenance guys from our apartment complex came and re-tiled that spot on the shower. Problem fixed, right?
Negative, ghost writer.
A few weeks later, I noticed that the spot that they had re-tiled was not doing so well. The new grout was literally peeling off the wall. Then I realized that it wasn't grout at all! It was caulking material (you know, the white stuff they use to seal off little cracks). It doesn't work very well as grout. Soon after I came to this realization, some more tile fell out of the shower.
So, they came and re-fixed it. The same way. And a few weeks later, guess what happened. Yeah. Tiles on floor.
This happened 6 times. SIX.
Finally, instead of calling the maintenance guys, I called the apartment manager, and this time, they are doing it right.
They had to tear all the tile in the shower out, and the dry wall and even the 2x4's behind it all, let that all dry out, then completely re-tile the whole shower. With REAL grout! Its almost finished!

i used to really love food.

Not anymore.

Brandon makes really good Mexican food, which i used to be able to seriously put away. Nope. Don't even come near me with that.
Ice cream is a terrible, terrible invention.
My friend, Kindle, and I used to be Gyros buddies. Sadly, I am now only the toilet bowl's buddy.
Today at work, I ordered a sandwich to hopefully calm my tummy. It didn't work (typing the word "sandwich" just now made me gag a little).
Pizza is disgusting. Who even thought of that anyway? "I'm going to take a bunch of cheese and veggies and some cheap meat and slap it on a slice of bread!" Moron.

I can eat fruit.
I kinda want some watermelon right about now.

Portia is going to be a big sister! We are expecting baby #2!

Excited is an understatement!

snow day!

It snowed last night! It was Portia's first real snow! yes, it was kinda weak, maybe one inch, but she loved it!

She didn't really get down and play in it, but she stomped in it plenty.
She also tried to get me to take her swimming. What, are you nuts?
Silly kid.

i love you...

Today I must have watched 4 hours of Barney. That's right, Barney. The big purple dinosaur. Portia is obsessed with Barney. She wakes up each morning asking for "Ba-ee," and doesn't stop asking until bed. She sings all day, and when she hears that theme song, her little legs start moving faster than when she hears "Single Ladies" (yes, she is also a Beyonce fan).
The problem is that Brandon and I may go crazy. We've been singing "Castle so High, Up in the Sky" and "Yes! Let's Take Care of our Pets" for days. Its a little embarrassing.
I tried to introduce other cartoons, like Kipper the Dog and Dora, but she just screams "BA-EE!!" Even Sesame Street has lost its appeal. If it were up to Portia, Barney would be played 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
I suppose she'll eventually outgrow this purple phase, in a few years.
Until then,
If aaaaall the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops, ooooh what a world this would beeee!

fingerpainting

As I drove home from work tonight, I called Brandon to check in and he told me a funny story. I thought I'd share.
Brandon and Portia enjoy watching football together. Portia likes feeling big and hanging out with daddy, and Brandon likes football. Usually the game holds Portia's interest for a few minutes, then she plays with her toys on the floor in the living room. Tonight was no different. Brandon watched the game while Portia played, and all was going swimmingly.
Until Brandon smelled a stinky diaper. Thinking she had merely pooped and needed changing, he glanced down at his feet where Portia had been reading a book minutes before.
There she sat, covered in her own poop. She had reached into her dirty diaper and started smearing herself with what she found there. In her hair, on her dress, up her arms, on her face (the possibility that she ate some looms in my mind), under her fingernails, and all over the book and carpet.
A direct quote from Brandon: "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!"
He grabbed her under the armpits and ran upstairs to the tub, where I found them when I got home.
Both she and the living room were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and our home is back to normal. But the possibility of this happening again haunts me. Our lives may never be the same.

new year's resolutions, in no particular order

1. (of course) work out/get into shape. Brandon and I joined a gym yesterday and I already went to try everything out; so far so good!

2. drink less pop/eat less junky food. Another one that everyone resolves to do. We'll see how it goes. (i really love dr. pepper.)

3. kiss my hubby more often. This one shouldn't be too hard, he's pretty cute!

4. go to the Temple at least once a month. This is the one that I really want to accomplish.

5. cook at home more, learn more yummy recipes. This one should help with eating less crappy food.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
